A taxi service operator and dispatcher system — manual ride creation and assignment, a fare engine with zones and airports, a real-time fleet map, payments and reports, serving the customer and driver mobile apps via API.
Where we started
Behind every taxi app is operator work the user does not see: taking calls and creating rides manually, calculating the right price for each route, assigning drivers and overseeing the whole fleet in real time. Without a unified dispatch tool this work splits across spreadsheets, calls and separate programs, and errors in price or assignment directly affect the customer and driver. An operator system was needed that connects the customer and driver apps, calculates the price by flexible rules and gives the dispatcher a full view of rides and the fleet.
What we built
MBC built a Laravel operator and dispatcher system that acts as the control centre for the taxi service and serves the customer and driver Flutter apps via a REST API. The dispatcher creates rides manually, manages fares and zones, oversees the fleet on a real-time map and tracks revenue, while real-time communication with the apps runs over MQTT.
- Manual ride creation with driver assignment and scheduled rides
- Fare engine: base price, minimum price, per-km and per-minute charge, waiting and demand surcharge (surge)
- Fixed zone and airport fares, surcharges and discount coupons
- Real-time fleet map and demand map with MQTT updates
- Ride requests with driver fare bidding and full status history
- Payments (cash and online), driver and fleet payouts
- Revenue and driver reports with Excel and PDF export
- Complaint and SOS handling, a multilingual translation manager and role permissions (RBAC)
