Couch Remote
A Wi-Fi TV remote for iPhone and Apple Watch — pair your TV once, then control it from your phone or your wrist. No account, no ads, one-time Pro purchase.
Our own iPhone and Apple Watch app — a Wi-Fi TV remote for Samsung, LG, Android TV and Roku, published on the App Store.
Where we started
TV makers' own apps usually only work with their own brand, and many universal remotes ask for an account or show ads. In a home with Samsung, LG and Android TV that means several apps for the same simple task. We wanted one simple remote for the most popular TVs — with big buttons, no sign-up and no data collection — and the same remote on Apple Watch, where third-party apps cannot talk to a TV on the network directly.
What we built
MBC built Couch Remote as its own product: a Flutter app that finds TVs on the Wi-Fi network and speaks each brand's protocol — Samsung and LG over WebSocket, Android TV with encrypted pairing, Roku over ECP. The Apple Watch version is a separate SwiftUI app that sends every button press to the iPhone, which carries it out. The app was published on the App Store in September 2026.
- Samsung (Tizen), LG (webOS), Android TV / Google TV and Roku in one app
- Automatic TV discovery on Wi-Fi, or add a TV by its IP address
- Pair once — Samsung and LG confirm on screen, Android TV with a 6-character code, Roku needs no pairing
- D-pad with OK, Back, Home, volume and power; hold an arrow or volume key to repeat it
- Apple Watch remote — turn the Digital Crown to change the volume
- Rename or remove saved TVs
- Latvian and English
- No account, no servers, no analytics — data stays on the device
- Couch Remote Pro — a one-time purchase for the Apple Watch remote and unlimited TVs, no subscription
