We do not collect your data

The app has no accounts, no servers, no advertising and no analytics. We receive no information about you or about how you use the app.

Data that stays on your device

The app keeps the following only on your phone or watch:

• the TVs you have paired: the name you gave them, their brand, IP address and MAC address (used to wake a TV where supported), and the pairing token, key or certificate the TV issued;
• your language setting;
• whether you have unlocked Couch Remote Pro.

This data never leaves your device except as described below. It is deleted when you remove a TV in the app or uninstall the app.

Your TVs and the local network

The app talks directly to TVs on your Wi-Fi network to find them, pair with them and send button presses. It needs local network access for this; on iPhone, iOS asks for your permission. During pairing your TV sees the app name “Couch Remote” and, for Android TV, a certificate created on your device. What your TV does with this is covered by the TV maker’s privacy policy.

Apple Watch and Wear OS

On Apple Watch, the iPhone app sends the watch the names and brands of your paired TVs (never pairing credentials), and the watch sends each button press to your iPhone using Apple’s WatchConnectivity. The Wear OS app keeps its own list of TVs on the watch.

Purchases

Couch Remote Pro is sold through the App Store and Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment under their own privacy policies (apple.com/legal/privacy and policies.google.com/privacy). We receive no payment details or other personal data; the app only learns that Pro has been unlocked.

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. To remove everything the app stores, remove your TVs in the app or uninstall it. You can contact us at any time, and you have the right to complain to the Data State Inspectorate of Latvia (Datu valsts inspekcija, www.dvi.gov.lv) or to the supervisory authority in your country.

Changes

We will update this page if the app changes how it handles data. The date at the top shows the current version.
